Finance Function Strategic Services – Director/Senior Manager/Manager for a US Member Firm of an International Accounting Firm POSITION SUMMARY: The Grant Thornton LLP Business Advisory Services (BAS) group delivers comprehensive client services related to transactions, performance improvement and crisis management. As part of the Advisory group, the Finance Effectiveness position leverages capabilities to solve critical market issues impacting CFOs today. The Finance Effectiveness mission is to advise CFO’s and their organizations in transforming finance from being purely transactional, to playing a more strategic and critical performance management role. The current focus is to help CFOs reduce complexity by focusing on: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality. Manage, direct, and monitor client services teams on multiple engagements; plan, execute, direct, and complete audits, business process control reviews, and other service offerings in a wide variety of industries; and manage to budget. Understand and manage firm risk on audits and proposals. Improve internal and external reporting by gaining timelier, cost effective access to accurate financial and operational information. Reduce complexity by enhancing process performance, people and organizational strategies, and advising on enabling technology solutions. Strengthen performance management, budgeting and forecasting capabilities Optimize cash flow and the use of capital. Build and maintain cost effective controls. Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews. Think strategically about practice enhancements and be able to embrace and manage change. Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively. Consult, work with, and service client base to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client. Maintain a good working relationship with clients to enhance customer satisfaction and work with client management and staff at all levels to perform BAS services. Coach team in developing and achieving goals and objectives for performance and professional development. Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis. Perform other job-related duties as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Technology; CPA required. 8+ years of experience at a senior/manager consultant level in a similar practice or function within a Big 4 firm or global consulting firm, servicing cross-industry clients at a local and or national level required. Industry CFO and/or Controller experience strongly preferred. Strong experience in staff and audit management in an integrated client service team. Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment. Practice development experience is preferred. Strong background in core financial processes and accounting functions. Applied experience in performance and process improvement is required: analyzing a process, use of benchmarks, knowledge of best practices, and redesigning processes. Experience in budgeting and forecasting, project management for large/complex engagements and client relationship management. Proposal and Sales Process Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel on a regular basis to clients as required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and a strong professional presence are required.
